Subscriber Course:
A two-day course intended to introduce parents, teachers and
administrators to the Orton-Gillingham approach, the phonology and
structure of English, characteristics of dyslexia, multisensory
teaching, and a lesson demonstration.
Associate
Level Course: An intense weeklong course for individuals
holding a bachelor's degree. It is the basic course in the Orton
Gillingham approach that enables you to instruct with better
understanding of the structure of language and multisensory teaching.
The course includes an in-depth introduction to phonology, structure
of English, characteristics of dyslexia, multisensory teaching,
assessment tools, grammar and written expression and interactive
demonstrations and activities to use the approach. A practicum is
available upon request at an additional cost with observations and
mentoring.
Certified, Part I
Course: An additional weeklong intense training that is geared
to solidify concepts and theories learned in Associate Level training
followed by more in-depth trainig onn structure of English. More
emphasis is placed on assessment analysis, vocabulary and
comprehension skills, written expression and prefixes, roots and
suffixes. A practicum is available upon request at an additional cost
with observations and mentoring.
Certified, Part II Course:
This is
the second half of the Certified, which requires another weeklong
course solidifying gaps in knowledge of Orton Gillingham approach
engaging participants in more analytical thinking, assessment, and
higher level strategies for college bound students. At this level
participants continue their focus on morphology, expository writing,
vocabulary development and analogies. Preparing and presenting
lectures is also a criterion of this course. A practicum is available
upon request at an additional cost with observations and mentoring.
