Camp Profile

Camp Spring Creek is located in western North Carolina and our 70-acre property offers a natural beauty and peacefulness to the camp community. Our camp facilities include a main lodge, dining hall, art barn, woodshop, swimming pool, campers’ cabins, climbing wall, and two zip lines. We have four campers’ cabins and children are grouped by gender and age. Each cabin houses 8 campers; our maximum is 32 children. We accept campers ages 6-14 and our camp population includes children from all over the United States and Europe.

Our counselors come from all over the world which adds a multi-cultural aspect to our camp. Some of our counselors are dyslexic and they serve as positive role models for our campers. We train all of our staff in understanding dyslexia and the specific needs of our campers. All of our staff is 21 years or older and they are all trained as Red Cross Lifeguards with CPR training.

The tutorial staff at Camp Spring Creek is a very dedicated, passionate group of educators who work tirelessly to help every camper. They share their expertise, creativity, and dedicated commitment to help each child reach their potential. All of our tutors are experienced Orton-Gillingham practitioners and all are accredited or pursing accreditation with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

We begin mid-June and operated through the beginning of August. We offer a flexible schedule where a child can attend for as few as 4 weeks or as many as 8 weeks. Our recommended length of stay is at least 6 weeks to make the most gains possible. Our 4-week sessions are intended for those students who already attend a specialized school where they are receiving solid Orton-Gillingham instruction. These students benefit by continuing their specialized instruction so their skills will not diminish over the summer.

The camp admits students of any race, gender, and national or ethnic origins. The camp does not discriminate in administration of our educational policies, admissions procedures, or scholarships for any prospective student.
